Frequently asked questions.

01How is the 8th CPC monthly basic pension calculated?

Basic pension is generally calculated as 50% of the last drawn basic pay of the employee, scaled by the chosen fitment factor. In the proposed 8th CPC, the minimum basic pension is expected to be ₹25,500 (50% of the minimum basic pay of ₹51,000).

02What is family pension?

Family pension is paid to the spouse or eligible family members after the pensioner's death. It is calculated as 30% of the last drawn basic pay of the employee, scaled by the fitment factor. Under 8th CPC, the minimum family pension is expected to be ₹15,300.

03What is Pension Commutation?

Commutation allows pensioners to receive a lump sum advance by surrendering a portion of their basic pension (maximum 40%) for a fixed duration (typically 15 years). This calculator estimates how your monthly payout will decrease based on the commutation percentage selected.
