Assumptions & Rules:
1. Basic Pay Rounding: The final Basic Pay fixed in the pay matrix is always rounded to the nearest ₹100 cell. If the calculated basic pay falls between two cells, the salary is fixed at the higher cell (Pay Fixation protection).
2. Hike Estimate: The hike represents the direct basic pay difference before adding dearness allowance and other allowances.
Frequently asked questions.
01What is a fitment factor?
A fitment factor is a multiplication factor applied to the existing basic pay of Central Government employees to arrive at their new basic pay under a revised pay structure (like the 8th Pay Commission).
02Why are there different fitment factors being proposed?
Various federations and unions submit different recommendations based on inflation index rates and minimum wage formulas. Unions are strongly demanding 2.81 or 3.00 to raise the entry-level salary to ₹51,000+, while standard guidelines might consider a lower baseline of 1.92 or 2.57.
03How does pay fixation work after applying the fitment factor?
Once your basic pay is multiplied by the fitment factor, the result is fitted into the Pay Matrix. You are assigned to the cell in your pay level that is equal to or immediately higher than the calculated amount.
